"Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan" is an action-packed comedy film released in 2023. Directed by Farhad Samji and produced by Salman Khan Films, it is an unofficial remake of the popular Tamil movie "Veeram" from 2014. Principal photography for the film began in May 2022 and concluded in February 2023, with filming taking place in Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Ladakh. During this time, Ravi Basrur was approached to compose the background score and one song, joining the team of talented composers working on the film. Other composers on board include Himesh Reshammiya, Sajid Khan, Sukhbir, Payal Dev, Devi Sri Prasad, and Amaal Mallik.
The film's music received significant attention and was released as a soundtrack album featuring several catchy songs. The track listing includes songs like "Yentamma," sung by Vishal Dadlani, Payal Dev, and Raftaar, "Billi Billi" by Sukhbir, "Naiyo Lagda" featuring vocals by Kamaal Khan and Palak Muchhal, and "O Balle Balle" sung by Sukhbir, Kiran, Kabir, and Dimpy. Salman Khan himself lends his voice to the song "Jee Rahe The Hum (Falling in Love)." The film's marketing campaign involved the release of a teaser and an official trailer. The teaser was unveiled on 25 January 2023, while the trailer was released on 10 April 2023, generating anticipation and excitement among the audience.
"Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan" was theatrically released on 21 April 2023, coinciding with the festive occasion of Eid. The film was screened on approximately 5,700 screens worldwide, with 4,500 in India and 1,200 in the overseas market. Despite a strong opening at the box office, the film received mixed reviews from critics, who highlighted shortcomings in the screenplay, direction, dialogues, casting, songs, and action sequences.
In terms of box office performance, the film grossed ₹15.81 crore (US$2.0 million) in India and ₹9.57 crore (US$1.2 million) overseas on its opening day. It crossed the ₹100 crore net mark in India on 30 April, making it Salman Khan's 16th film to achieve this milestone. As of 18 May 2023, the film has grossed ₹131.58 crores (US$16 million) in India and ₹50.86 crores (US$6.4 million) overseas, accumulating a worldwide gross collection of ₹182.44 crores (US$23 million).
Despite the mixed critical reception, "Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan" managed to perform well at the box office, attracting Salman Khan's dedicated fan base and delivering an entertaining cinematic experience for audiences.
